Refund Policy
The following information pertains to policies and procedures of Florida International University Online Continuing Education that affect your enrollment in its non-credit courses or non-credit programs. It is your responsibility to be familiar with these policies and procedures, and, unless otherwise specified, this Policy applies to all non-credit courses and non-credit programs offered by FIU Online Continuing Education.
Cancellations
FIU Online Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any non-credit program or non-credit course with insufficient enrollment or for reasons beyond FIU's control. If a non-credit course or non-credit program is cancelled, the student will be given a full tuition refund for the cancelled non-credit course or non-credit program.
Dropping a Non-Credit Course or Non-Credit Program
If a student provides a timely written request to drop a non-credit course or non-credit program in accordance with this policy, then FIU Online Continuing Education may provide the student with a full tuition refund for such course or program based on the number of modules or courses the student accessed or completed, as applicable.
The written request to drop a non-credit course or non-credit program must be received by FIU Online Continuing Education on or before a deadline of 10 business days after the student is given access to the non-credit course or non-credit program ("Drop Deadline") in order for the student to be eligible for a refund.
Non-Credit Courses. For non-credit courses, if a student has dropped the non-credit course before the Drop Deadline, the student may qualify for a full tuition refund based on the number of modules the student accessed in the dropped course. This is determined by the number of modules the student has accessed in relation to the total number of modules that make up such course, as provided in the matrix below.
If a student has dropped the course prior to the Drop Deadline, and the student has only accessed a number of modules in the dropped non-credit course that is equal to or less than the applicable maximum number of modules, as provided below, the student will be given a full tuition refund for such dropped course.
If a student does not drop the course before the Drop Deadline, or the student has accessed more than the applicable maximum number of modules in the dropped non-credit course, the student will not be given a refund in any amount for the dropped course.
Non-Credit Course Refund Matrix Total # of Modules in the Non-Credit Course Max # of Modules Accessed to Qualify for a Refund 1 - 3 Modules 0 (No Refunds Allowed) 4 - 5 Modules 1 Module 6 - 7 Modules 2 Modules 8 or more Modules 3 Modules
Non-Credit Programs. Non-credit programs are made up of various individual non-credit courses. A student may qualify for a full tuition refund provided the student has dropped the program before the Drop Deadline, and the student has not completed any of the non-credit courses in the dropped program.
If a student does not drop the non-credit program before the Drop Deadline, or the student has completed one or more of the courses in the dropped non-credit program, the student is not qualified for a refund in any amount for the dropped program.
If payment for a non-credit course or non-credit program was made with a credit card, the refund will occur 10 business days after the written request to drop a non-credit course or non-credit program has been approved by FIU Online Continuing Education, or 10 business days after the initial credit card transaction has cleared, whichever is later.
